The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, also known as the Artemision , was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It was a grand temple dedicated to the Greek goddess Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, fertility, and childbirth. The temple was located in the ancient city of Ephesus , which is now modern-day Turkey . The construction of the temple began in the 6th century BC , during the reign of King Croesus of Lydia. It was designed by the Greek architect Chersiphron and his son Metagenes . The temple was built on a marshy plain near the river Cayster, and it was raised on a platform to prevent flooding. The temple was made of marble and was adorned with sculptures and decorations. The temple was destroyed and rebuilt several times throughout history. Jacques Plante was a Canadian ice hockey goaltender who revolutionized the position with his innovative style of play. He was born on January 17, 1929, in Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel, Quebec, Canada, and passed away on February 27, 1986, in Geneva, Switzerland. Plante played for several teams in the National Hockey League (NHL) and was considered one of the greatest goaltenders of all time.
Plante began his professional career with the Montreal Canadiens in 1952. He quickly established himself as a top goaltender, winning the Vezina Trophy (awarded to the NHL's top goaltender) in his first full season. Plante was known for his unorthodox style of play, which included leaving his net to play the puck and wearing a mask to protect his face from injury.
In 1959, Plante suffered a serious injury when he was hit in the face by a shot during a game against the New York Rangers. He left the ice to receive medical attention and returned to the game wearing a fiberglass mask that he had designed himself. This was the first time a goaltender had worn a mask in an NHL game, and it revolutionized the position.
Plante continued to play at a high level for the Canadiens, winning five more Vezina Trophies and helping the team win six Stanley Cup championships. He was also a seven-time NHL All-Star and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1978.
In addition to his on-ice accomplishments, Plante was also known for his dedication to improving the equipment and safety of goaltenders. He worked with manufacturers to develop better masks and other protective gear, and he was instrumental in the development of the butterfly style of goaltending, which is now widely used in the NHL.
After retiring from the NHL in 1975, Plante continued to be involved in hockey as a coach and consultant. He also worked as a commentator for the CBC's Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts.

Jacques Plante's impact on the game of hockey cannot be overstated. His innovative style of play and dedication to improving the safety of goaltenders paved the way for future generations of players. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest goaltenders in NHL history.
